WELCOME TO POLESWORTH MEMORIAL HALL

Polesworth Memorial Hall is a community run village hall situated in the popular centre of Polesworth Village and run as a charity.  There are a variety of rooms available for hire offering community access to better facilities and services.

The hall is a village asset run by a group of volunteers who raise funds by running events at the hall, and also by a weekly lottery draw called the “200 Club”.  So far over £50,000 has been paid out in weekly prizes.  All funds are reinvested back into the hall.

Dear 200 Club Member,

200 Club

We are deeply grateful for the continued support of you all within the 200 Club.  It has built its own little community now and of course every week there are two people who benefit from being in it.  If it hasn't been you for a while, bear with it, you never know you could be next.

Events

The Pinch - As many of you will know the event we held in April featuring The Pinch was incredibly successful.  It was a complete sell out with some having to be turned away on the night as there were no tickets left.  So there's a lesson to be learnt.  Ensure you get in early for what is becoming s very popular venue.

Carnival Day - 2nd July - Now it's our turn to ask for your help!  We will be holding our usual stall on the field for carnival day.  As ever we will aim to be the cheapest on the field as we really do care about our local community and want to give you all the opportunity of a cheap cuppa.  However (and this is a big ask) we are asking for your generosity in making homemade cakes.  In previous years we have been amazed at the creations that have been donated, and even though we bought a few in case we had no donations, I can promise you the homemade cakes flew off the stall and we (the committee) had to buy the shop bought ones to put the money back into the coffers!!!  So please please please, help us to make our bit of the day a success and donate whatever cakes you can.  Every penny we make is put straight back into the community.  If you are able to help please let me know on 01827 896800 (Elaine) in order that we can gauge if we have to buy any (hopefully not!)

Dog Mess!!

The process is still going ahead and you may have noticed there are now markings on all the paths leading to the back field (Middle Meadow).  We are currently in the process of having signage put up at both entrances to the back field advising dog walkers of the consequences of not picking up their dog mess.  There is already a marked improvement.

Announcement

We are delighted to announce that following the opening of the new scout hut, we have been informed that one of our beloved members has had a room named after him.  The KEITH MARTIN Room was formally opened on Sunday 8th May.  A wonderful tribute to a much missed friend.

A Very Merry Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner

On 13th December Polesworth Memorial Hall held another very successful Free Christmas lunch for the communities senior citizens. This is the second time Polesworth Community Association (PCA) have hosted such an event. Those who attended were served a delicious three course lunch by Polesworth Academy sixth formers. After the lunch the entertainment was provided by Tamworth's U3A choir and a guitarist, both of whom encouraged singing along with them. The feedback received was overwhelming and hopefully this will become an annual event. The lunch was paid for from funds raised by the PCA 200 Club run by a group of volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to raise funds for the upkeep and refurbishment of the hall. We thank everyone who supports us and wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Dear 200 Club Member,

Well, we are now in the last quarter of the year but still there is a huge amount of things for you to get involved with.

Below is a quick résumé of things we have been working on throughout 2015.

·         The bar area has been totally replaced and refurbished.  This started as quite a small job, but once the work started, it became apparent that the original job would need much more than originally thought.  This included new ceiling, new flooring, extensive building work and new bar pumps.  As I write this the work is still ongoing.

·         New disabled access toilet next to the bar.  The original toilet has been completely revamped and extended to allow full disabled access for our customers.

·         The costs for the above has spiraled and we would like to remind you that all your help and funding via the 200 club and any events we put on are totally responsible for the constant upgrading work we are undertaking.  We sincerely thank you for your continued support.  There are still some numbers available so if any family or friends are interested please get in touch.

We ask that you also take the time to nominate us via Polesworth Co-Op nomination forms for a share of the dividend they offer to local charities.  We have never been successful previously but if enough nominate us we will be in with a chance. Please ask for a nomination form when you go in.

Following on from last years successful event, we are now finalising the arrangements for providing local senior citizens with a FREE festive lunch.  This is booked for Sunday, 13th December -

12.30 - 3.30pm.

The only thing you have to do is either nominate yourself, or nominate someone you know who would enjoy such an occasion.  There will be food, entertainment and above all company for anyone wishing to attend.  We will be entertained by a choir and guitarist, and festive music throughout the meal.    We will be serving a traditional Christmas lunch but should you have specific dietary needs, please let us know.

This year we are also putting on a Children's Christmas Party.  Again FREE to local children up to the age of 10. All children must be accompanied by an adult.  There will be a children's entertainer and party food.  Father Christmas will be in attendance too. The date for this is Saturday, 19th December 2015, 4.00 - 6.00pm

It is imperative that we know who will require the FREE tickets in order to cater appropriately.  Tickets are limited and on a first come first served basis. So please do contact Lyn Welding 01827 892731 / 07976608181.  Please leave a message and phone number if no-one answers.  All places will be confirmed nearer the time.

Funding

We are still in the process of applying for grants whenever we fall into the right category.
